Easter 2027 is Sunday, March 28, early this year. Good Friday, March 26, is a school holiday, and New Hanover County Schools’ spring break follows from March 29 to April 2, so Easter falls in the middle of an 11-day stretch off for students. See our spring break page.

City egg hunts

The city’s Parks and Recreation department lists three spring egg hunts on its seasonal programs page. All need pre-registration through the city’s WebTrac system, and the city had not set the 2027 dates when we checked.

Spring EggVenture, Halyburton Park, 4099 S. 17th St. Hunts run in time slots by age:

Bunny Trails Preschool Spring Egg Hunt, Fit For Fun Center, 302 S. 10th St. In 2026 it was Friday, March 20, from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., with hunts on the half hour, according to the city’s 2026 listing:

Brunch and services

Easter 2027 brunch menus and service times were not posted when we checked. We will add them here from each restaurant’s and church’s own website. Year-round options are in our brunch guide.

What is open and closed

  • Good Friday, March 26: no classes for New Hanover County Schools, and no parking meter enforcement downtown, according to the school calendar and the city’s parking page. Good Friday is not on the city’s list of trash holidays.
  • Easter Sunday, March 28: Wave Transit runs no bus service, its holiday page shows. Downtown meters are free on Sundays. The Children’s Museum of Wilmington is closed on Easter, its website says.
  • Easter weekend outdoors: Airlie Gardens’ Spring Bloom, with more than 60,000 tulips and 75,000 azaleas, runs March 1 to April 15, 2027 (events page).
