New Hanover County Schools’ spring break is Monday, March 29, to Friday, April 2, 2027. With a teacher workday on Thursday, March 25, and the Good Friday holiday on March 26, students are out for 11 days in a row, from March 25 through Easter weekend to Sunday, April 4. Last year, spring break was April 6-10, 2026.

Camps

City of Wilmington Spring Break Camp. For ages 5 to 12, $30 per participant, with registration on-site only. For 2026, registration opened Feb. 1. The city’s seasonal camps page lists the camp under the MLK Center at Robert Strange Park, 401 S. Eighth St., though its description names Maides Park; the city had not set the 2027 dates when we checked. Call 910-341-7866.

Children’s Museum of Wilmington. The museum held a School’s Out Camp on the Nov. 3, 2026, teacher workday; check its website for any spring break camp dates.

Things to do

  • Spring Bloom at Airlie Gardens, March 1 to April 15: more than 60,000 tulips and 75,000 azaleas, according to the gardens’ events page. Open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; $10, or $5 for New Hanover County residents and $3 for children 4 to 12 (visitor page).
  • Cape Fear Museum, 230 Grace St., in its new downtown building with a planetarium: open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday. Adults $16, youth 3 to 17 $10; New Hanover County residents get half off (admission page).
  • Battleship North Carolina, 1 Battleship Road: open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily, rain or shine, with most of the self-guided tour indoors. Adults $14, children 6 to 11 $6, 5 and under free (visitor page).
  • Children’s Museum of Wilmington, 116 Orange St.: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday, 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday, closed Mondays until Memorial Day and closed on Easter (website).
  • Wilmington Railroad Museum: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Saturday until Memorial Day, closed Sundays (website).
  • Parks, playgrounds and trails: our kids’ activities, walking and biking trails and free things to do guides.

What is open and closed

  • Good Friday, March 26: the city does not enforce downtown parking meters on Good Friday, its parking page says. Good Friday is not on the city’s list of trash holidays.
  • Easter Sunday, March 28: Wave Transit runs no bus service on Easter, its holiday page shows. The Children’s Museum is closed. Easter egg hunts are on our Easter page.
